EVON NEXT- providing services in coordination with like-minded organizations

Two days practical training workshop organized on 30th and 31st July, 2024 to train ten Peace Corps volunteers and government authorities on "fruit tree cultivation" at Patlekhet Agroforest Resource Centre- EVON NEXT. The trainees have been enabled on;

-          How to care for seedlings for propagation

-          Stratification and scarification techniques

-          Constructing a thatch shelter to preserve seedlings

-          Intercultural operations and fruit trees management including tree training and pruning

The trainees obtained technical knowledge about open center, modified center and central leader system of fruit plants. Bordeaux paste application was demonstrated, along with techniques for manuring fruit trees such as broadcasting, pit method, and ring basin method, which guard against disease pest infection and maintain plant health. Techniques of asexual propagation like grafting where different types- Tongue, cleft, side, side veneer, bark and top working in fruit plants were transferred. In budding, Patch, chip and T budding was done. Air layering was demonstrated in citrus, and approach grafting was applied in avocado during the sessions. Ten trainees had the opportunity to gain hands on practical experience in the EVON NEXT farm guided by expertise in the field of agriculture.
